Highly qualified technology center of international prestige, specialized in applied research and the development and promotion of renewable energies This is a Foundation that began its activity in 2002 and whose Board of Trustees is comprised of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Ciemat (Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology), and the Government of Navarra. It currently provides services and performs research work in 6 areas in the field of renewable energies:

  • Bioclimatic Architecture
  • Renewable Energy Grid Integration

CENER has a cutting-edge technological infrastructure, with the most modern laboratories and facilities in Europe. In the case of the Wind Turbine Test Laboratory, located in Sangüesa (Navarra), it is the only infrastructure of this kind in the world. It has a staff of almost 200 highly qualified professionals who make this center a reference both inside and outside our country. It provides professional services to a considerable group of institutions and companies related in one way or another to the energy business, as well as South American, European and Spanish regional governments.

CENER is a reference center in the international arena and do have in place agreements with different agents along the world

  • Collaboration Agreement with BLAEST (Danish Wind Turbine Test Centre) related to wind turbine blade testing
  • Collaboration Agreement with the University of Liverpool for the joint development of a specific CFD analysis tool for wind turbines.
  •  Collaboration Agreement with Professor Ioan-Doré Landau of the University of Grenoble (France) to develop closed-loop identification techniques for models designed to control wind turbines.
  • Agreement with the National Meteorology Institute in order to develop prediction activities in the field of wind energy.
  • Agreement with DNV for the certification of wind turbines types according to IEC standards.
  • Framework Agreement between CENER and the Higher Council of Associations of Architects of Spain to boost actions aimed at fostering bioclimatic architecture in Spain.


Main instrument of the Government of Navarre for the business development of the region. The society participates actively and in a significant way in business projects, in all their phases, that contribute to the sustainable and balanced development of Navarre. The main financial instrument used is the venture capital, and has been the main activity since the society creation in 1984. SODENA is specially active in the following lines:

SODENA do have three prioritarie lines for development that will become the pillars for the new productive model of Navarre: Biotechnology, Energy and Environment, and the Agro & Food Industry. There is a firm commitment to support internationalization projects.

SODENA do aim to focus efforts in this sector with the aim of repeating the success achieved in the renewables sector development.

Renewable Energies:
SODENA has been a key agent in the development of the renewable energies sector. The regional plan for the energy policy has been performed integrating the environmental requirements and the energy needs. Such plan is being imitated in several places in Spain and outside. The main goals for SODENA are to focus on the efficiency and the alternative sources development.

Agro & Food:
SODENA is investing in companies willing to innovate, oriented to emerging markets and with a high potential growth. SODENA is supporting from a financial perspective the companies from Navarre in their internationalization processes, providing bank guaranties, loans, and even becoming part of the shareholders. The goal beyond this support is to promote the competitiveness, create new market opportunities and diversify risks. SODENA cooperates with COFIDES, and INVEST IN SPAIN Spanish companies devoted to the financial support to the development and bilateral cooperation, helping the companies from Navarra to have access to the instruments of support for their internationalization.


Industrial agent with a huge experience in developing green tech power plants, in particular PV and Biodiesel.

Through the SOLARTIA Fotovoltaica Division, it designs, promotes and builds up photovoltaic power plants connected to the grid. As per today figures, more than 12 MW nominal power have been installed.

The SOLARTIA Services Division is providing an integral maintenance operation to all the customers owning power plant facilities.

The SOLARTIA Biodiesel Division operates the facilities property of the group producing more than 34 million liters per year. In addition it provides consultancy services to other companies that do aim to develop biodiesel facilities

SOLARTIA, similar to other famous companies, was born in the garage company model and since then has become a representative company that currently is diversifying the product catalog and initiating its international projection.
